Organisation

The committees and institutions behind the 6th European Design4Health conference in Amsterdam.

Conference Leadership

Two committees provided the organisational and academic leadership of the conference: the Organising Committee and the Academic Programme Committee. Together, they guided the conference planning, reviewed submissions and shaped the programme.

The conference was chaired by three leading figures in design for health research: the Director of DesignLab at the University of Twente, the Design Director of Lab4Living at Sheffield Hallam University, and the Health Director of Lab4Living. Their combined expertise in design research, creative practice and health service innovation provided the foundation for the conference's interdisciplinary approach.

Organising Committee

The Organising Committee of D4H 2020 actively led the conference planning. The committee consisted of representatives from four partner institutions:

DesignLab, University of Twente

The DesignLab team contributed the Director of DesignLab and the first-line support coordinator. DesignLab at the University of Twente is an interdisciplinary research hub where technology, behaviour and design converge to address societal challenges.

Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA)

The HvA team included a lector at the Digital Life Centre and an event manager. The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands, with a strong focus on practice-based research.

Lab4Living, Sheffield Hallam University

The Lab4Living team contributed the Design Director, the Health Director, and a Conference Organising Officer from the Art and Design Research Centre. Lab4Living at Sheffield Hallam University specialises in interdisciplinary research in design for health and wellbeing.

Waag (technology and society)

The Waag team contributed a programme developer from the Care Lab. Waag is an Amsterdam-based foundation that works at the intersection of science, technology and the arts, with a strong focus on open, fair and inclusive technology.

Academic Programme Committee

The Academic Programme Committee was chaired by academic staff members from DesignLab at the University of Twente, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, and Lab4Living at Sheffield Hallam University. This committee worked in collaboration with 4TU (including Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology), Wageningen University and Research, and other partner institutions.

The academic programme committee was responsible for the scientific quality of the conference programme, including the review process for submitted papers and abstracts. Additional members of the review committee brought expertise from universities across the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, ensuring a rigorous and international peer-review process.
